We get to see Old European Cut Diamonds when our customers bring in their jewelry for appraisals, cleaning, maintenance and repairs. If you bring your Old European Cut Diamonds in, we can clean them for you, then show you the differences between them and Modern Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds. The easy three differences to see with Old European Cut Diamonds are the culet, table size and crown height. Modern Round Brilliant Cut diamonds usually have no culet (small facet at bottom of diamond) but instead have a sharp point at the bottom of the diamond. Culets are often visible in Old European Cut diamonds. Also, table (large facet on top of diamond) size is usually smaller and crown (area above the girdle) is often taller.
